Access to Work for ADHD Entrepreneurs
If you’re self-employed with ADHD, you may be able to get government funding for the support that helps you run your business.
In England, Scotland and Wales, that funding is called Access to Work, and it doesn’t have to be paid back.
VB Virtual Biz Support accepts Access to Work funding.
What is Access to Work?
Access to Work is a UK government grant for people whose health condition or disability, including ADHD, affects how they do their job. It’s open to employed and self-employed people.
What can it pay for?
The grant is based on your individual needs. It can help cover things like a support worker, specialist software or equipment, and travel costs.
For ADHD, that often includes practical support with planning, prioritising, accountability and follow-through.
Who can apply?
You can apply if you are:
-
16 or over
-
live and work in England, Scotland or Wales
-
are in paid work or self-employed
-
have a condition, such as ADHD, that affects your ability to do your work
-
If you’re self-employed, you’ll need your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) when you apply.
How much does it cover?
There’s no fixed amount. Your grant depends on the support you need, and self-employed people can receive up to 100% of approved costs.
How to apply
Apply on GOV.UK at gov.uk/access-to-work, or call the Access to Work helpline on 0800 121 7479.
Is the support you’re being offered right for you?
